Artifact Roadshow in Soda Springs

On May 2, the Soda Springs Public Library hosted a successful Trash or Treasure evening. The library hosted Randy Thompson, Forest Archaeologist for Caribou-Targhee National Forests, and Amy Lamper, from the BLM of Pocatello. They were joined by our own resident archaeologist, Diana Mickelson, who is on staff at the library. Each helped local patrons identify genuine or reproduction artifacts. Some patrons learned how to use the internet to learn more about their
objects.

The most popular items brought in were old bottles and arrowheads. The Caribou County Historical Society, represented by Janet and Norman Tolman, brought bottles and items from the local Pioneer Museum.

Keith and Carolyn Hunsaker found whiskey and
cologne bottles on their ranch.

Diana Mickelson helped Gwen Budge and Dennis Perry learn
about marbles on the internet.

Local Patrons had fun socializing, munching on snacks, and sharing their objects. Overall it was a fun event!
